2017-2018 marks our 5th anniversary as a synchronized skating program. What better way to celebrate than to hear from some of our skaters who have been with us since the very beginning? We will be featuring an original Cadette every Friday for the month of December. First up, is Elyse Maran.
I am a Valley Forge Cadette. That may not mean anything to you, but it sure means everything to me. The Cadettes aren’t just any synchro team, we’re a family. We’re closer than sisters it seems, and we truly love, trust, and support each other through everything. The Cadettes are fun to be around, and we love to laugh, sometimes uncontrollably! When I first became a Cadette five years ago, none of us had any synchronized skating skills, but every year we build and grow. That first year, we could barely even connect, and now we’re doing double back lunge intersections without a hitch. We started with nine little baby skaters, gaining and losing members throughout the years, and now we’re continuing to grow with thirty-three beautiful, talented, and hilarious skaters on three teams. Our amazing coaches have guided us through it all with unconditional support and love. Their dedication, knowledge, and passion for the sport of synchronized skating and the well-being of all of their skaters has me looking forward to spending hopefully many more years as a Cadette.
